As the February 27, 2007 NHL trade deadline approaches, the amout of trades and trade talk going on around the league is increasing.

To be honest, I am having a lot of trouble keeping up with all of the player movement and potential trades floating around the internet. However, with all of the draft picks being thrown around, I thought I’d see what teams are getting or giving up in terms of the top talent in the 2007 NHL Draft.

Alexei Cherepanov, an 18-year-old right-winger playing for Omsk of the Russian elite league, is the No. 1-rated prospect for the 2007 NHL entry draft.

Karl Alzner, Defence, of the WHL’s Calgary Hitmen is No. 2

James Van Riemsdyk, Left Wing, of the U.S. under-18 program is No. 3.

Patrick Kane, Right Wing, of the OHL’s London Knights is No. 4.

Jakub Voracek, Right Wing, of the QMJHL’s Halifax Mooseheads is No. 5.

The rest of the top 10 are:
Logan Couture, Centre, Ottawa 67s (OHL)
Kyle Turris, Centre, Burnaby (BCJHL)
Sam Gagner, Centre, London (OHL)
Keaton Ellerby, Defence, Kamloops (WHL)
Angelo Esposito, Centre, Quebec (QMJHL)
